Jenny has worked in the Youth Sector since the age of 18. Having started her career as an Apprentice Youth Worker for the YMCA, at 24 she is now a Youth Participation Coordinator on a national youth engagement programme for Social Landlords.
Jenny’s experiences both as a young person and a youth professional have shaped who she is today and True Grit is about sharing that knowledge and learning with other young people and professionals.
It’s not always necessarily about where you end up or how quickly you can get there. It’s about the choices you make for you, at the time that is right for you and the discoveries and possibilities you find along the way!
You may be a small fish in a big pond- but you can still make an almighty splash!
This page right now is all about my own ‘True Grit’ - that determination and drive I have to achieve everything I am capable of, to grab opportunities with both hands and make the most of every possibility.
That attitude right now is leading me into unknown territory. I know there are going to be massive challenges ahead- but i’m ready for them. I want to turn True Grit into a Social Enterprise, focusing on the empowerment and development of young people, so that they are able to claim their voice and participate in decisions which affect their lives and hold their own identity within their communities and wider society.
Welcome to my journey and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have something to say/ask
